I didn't get to see any of it fora variety of reasons, hoping to catch highlights later. At least they won. Winning is better than losing. The prospect of being a good teAm waved bye bye long ago, but at least a .500 record would be something to salvage.
Was Duren's shot to win a Difficult one?

Why don't we get the foul shot? That game was such a THUD. I think G is legitimately upset that our guys are celebrating on the court. La Salle moves to 2-0 in the pink shoes... He was upset they ran off the court and didn't salute our fans who came out for the game.

Questionable strategy by G with Garland getting inbounds with :07 left on the shot clock and having him take the last shot with :35.2. Tip of the hat to G for the game winner from DJ to Duren with :0.7.
Win a hairy one. Yes.

Pass from DJ from right side to left side under basket, Duren's shot was a layup, not an easy one, but he made it and was fouled, but never shot the FT. Hence the gamblers being pissed cause game ended La Salle winning by 2, if he makes FT its 3 and covers the 2 1/2

The problem with the strategy is shooting with 0 time left does not allow for a Steve Zack putback after a miss, you have to make it. And Fordham already had so many blocks in this game. We should have taken any open shot, then trusted the defense to finish them.

Thankfully G redeemed himself with the following play. duren shot was obviously right next to the basket but a difficult one due to being fouled. I know we didn't play well today but really don't think we're this god awful team were mediocre. Have more bad days than good. However, SLU has lost some of its steam. We now are in 8th place. Also, don't think we're very far off from the NIT. As disappointed as I am I'm not going to sit here and bitch on a board like a 30 year pregnant women going through her last few weeks of pregnancy.

Takes 3 more wins for the NIT, in my opinion. At least.

Never should have been that close. Glad we won. Mills had a good game. Garland can't shoot. That final play by Duren was even more amazing cause he mishandled it and almost didn't even get a handle on it to take a shot. At the 9 minute mark we went into street ball mode with no set offense. Just for banter If we win the next two then win one in the A 10 tourny we would be on the bubble for the NIT.

Takes 3 more wins for the NIT, in my opinion. At least. I think it kind of depends on the fate of other teams in the A10 as well. I am thinking more and more the league will get 6 in with Dayton in as one of the last four teams in. I also think SJU has put themselves in somewhat comfortably with a win today. If they make the tournament we finish 16-15 or 17-15, I think we make it due to our strength of schedule and of the A10. Will see though, one game at a time.

Went from a terrible planned Garland drive to a well drawn up Duren layup. You'd think 2 different people drew the plays up.

G was celebrating too when it fell. Dunn was celebrating before the shot even went up. I watched the replay several times and Dunn jumped off the bench as soon as he saw Duren breaking open. Dunn's feet hit the ground just about when Duren's shot hit the backboard. Good stuff.

Fordham fouling Duren with 0.1 left on the clock... this came straight out of the CCSU 2005 playbook.

The story of this game is that Jerrell Wright played all 40 minutes. Uber-efficient at 6-9.

G FINALLY realized that JW must play the whole game. Why didn't Taylor Dunn play more? He appears to be one of our best 3 point shooters. Is his D that bad? After Garland kept on missing and the announcer said HE SHOULD STOP SHOOTING u would think G might have sat him or told him to stop and give Dunn a chance. Had we been hitting our shots that game would have been a blow out. The only chance we have in the A10 tourny is if we heat up AS A TEAM from three. Everyone must be on like they were in the first half of that Kansas St. Game where everything was going in.

I'm ecstatic about the # of shots taken by Mills and Peterson. The only shot we have is if those two earn some respect as far as being a threat to shoot. And JW sure as heck showed stamina and conditioning to play all 40.

Anyone else read G's lips after Garland was REJECTED in final seconds? I'm not a master at lip reading unless they are curse words... But I'm fairly certain he looked right at Garland, shaking his head saying, "You KNEW that was not a good shot."
I'm also a huge fan of what we are doing right now with basically 6-man rotation.

When it takes a desperation play with .7 seconds left in the game to escape with a victory over a Fordham team with two conference wins and our team starts celebrating like they just beat Wichita State, that's pathetic.
Fordham's coach gets a lot of credit in helping La Salle, also. Calling a time out when La Salle had none left, some odd personnel moves on the court, and some other decisions he made really helped get La Salle this win.

I jumped up in the my living room too. Cannot survive with the amount of turnovers against the next two teams on the schedule, we'll be eaten alive by City Line Avenue.
Poor Fordham, I root for that program whenever possible. Their fans deserve better.

You criticizing a bunch of kids having a rough season for being happy about a win that kept their slim postseason chances alive. I guess they should have stayed on the bench and clapped politely.

kjmac12, I agree with you regarding angryal. They are having a bad year when they expected better of themselves. Every team has a game a against inferior opponents that are very close, LaSalle over Fordham or they lose, Duquense over St. Lousis, Boston College over Syracuse.

Why don't we get the foul shot? I'm sure you've found your answer by now, but I'm late to the party. Free throws with no time left that have no bearing on the outcome of the game are not shot. If you have 999 points and are fouled at the horn of a 10-point game, you remain 1 shy of 1,000. If you're down three, are fouled shooting a 3 at the buzzer and miss the first, the last two are not shot, etc.

And if they don't celebrate its "proof they don't care" and have already quit on the season. Some people have an innate ability to bitch about either side of the coin.

But the one thing that can't be argued by anyone - by their play this season the team has given us a ton to b**** about no matter what side of the coin someone is trying to look at. It's just been an awful season.

Disappointing sure. And nowhere near expectations, but 14-14 isn't "awful." Most likely they will finish 15-15 and 7-9 in the A-10. Again, not good, not anywhere near we most hoped they'd be, but not 9-21 either, and with still a puncher's chance at the NIT, (3 more wins could make this a reality, especially if the A-10 gets 6 teams in the dance).

Unless you're just not the type to bitch at and about college kids. Sure. Oh, I got it now. As fans we should just disregard the play (and coaching) displayed this season. We can't show any disappointment about what happened this year. Look, I get they are college students, not professionals. And I get they are representing our alma mater. But fans can still be disappointed in what was displayed this season on the court and still be loyal to the program. Part of the reason why a good number of us are so frustrated is because we care A LOT about our school and program.
