As one of the "old-timer" alums on this board, I was somewhat surprised that the hugely significant role of former Explorers basketball star ( 1944 - 47 ), head basketball coach ( 1964 - 1966 ) and La Salle University donor and patron Robert W. ( Bob ) Walters '47 was not referenced in the recent Tom Gola news coverage, not only in urging Tom Gola to come back and coach the vaunted (23-1) La Salle 1968-69 team, but also in assisting in the recruitment of the stars of that team, including Ken Durrett, Larry Cannon, Bernie Williams, Roland "Fatty" Taylor, Stan Wlodarczyk, Ed Szczesny, Fran Dunphy and Stan Witalec, among others. For those who may be interested, check out the La Salle Basketball Media Guides / Handbooks for the 1964-65, 1965-66, 1968-69 and 1969-70 seasons which are available and can be read online at: digitalcommons.lasalle.edu/basketball_media_guides/index.html

Took a look at the 65-66 guide. I recall, if I have this correct, being at the double header LaSalle-Louisville (Wes Unseld) and St. Joeseph - Providence (Jimmie Walker) Both LaSalle and St. Joe won. A great night.
