For reference: The Flyers.Good players started season playing like crap and they lost. Same players are playing better and they r winning Different coach, different system, hell even different players. Much more fluidness there than what's ever possible in college sports. The lack of ability to change the variables is what's concerning - what you see after 5 games can easily be the product at the end of the day. Every time we cook up an excuse as to why tomorrow is going to be different, they prove us wrong by inaction. I'll keep cooking up excuses though because I'm not ready to scuttle the ship yet.

Some of you people are absolutely out of your F'in mind...literally!
We're six games into the season whatever you guys think you know save it. Obviously there many things to improve. Oh and Jellybean Duke almost lost to Vermont and honestly should of lost that game. Give the team a damn chance it's going to take some time for the team to sync without Galloway. SLU started the season out last year 3-3 and ended up being a top 15 team with hopes of taking down Louisville.
We have plenty of opportunities throughout are schedule we just have to avoid bad losses which we have done so far. Penn State, Manhattan and Providence are all solid squads. NONE of them will be even close to the rpi of CCSU last year.
The A10 could emerge once again as a 5 bid league especially seeing how well Dayton, GW and Richmond are playing, it may be unlikely but its possible. Guarantee one of them emerge as a top 5 A10 team with a chance of the NCAA. My guess is GW they are a spectacular team and who has the opportunity to play them twice...La Salle along with playing SLU and VCU at home. UMass has historically not been a tough place to play but I would expect to lose that game seeing how good they actually are. We were not going to be 13-3 in conference play EVERY team in the conference got better which everyone seems to forget. The ACC clearly is no where near as strong as everyone originally thought and the Big East is turning out to be very good. Our NCAA chances are still alive and its WAY TOO EARLY to make any determinations on what are at large chances are at this point.
This board is unbearable when **** hits the fan so..... CHILL OUT!!!!!
Just a side note did anyone see the city 6 ranking. I died laughing. Aaron Bracy has immediately offed us. What is even funnier he thinks Drexel has a chance against NCAA title contender Arizona. I would love to see that. They beat Rutgers and that is all worth mentioning.

Some of you guys are going too far the other way now, with the "If you voice concern, you're a chicken little alarmist" routine. There's a middle ground that's perfectly feasible at this point.

Some of you guys are going too far the other way now, with the "If you voice concern, you're a chicken little alarmist" routine. There's a middle ground that's perfectly feasible at this point. voicing concern is fine. BUT when there numerous people who have either said "no shot at the tournament"
"this team be lucky to make the NIT" "I am done watching this team" "At this point I have given up" "this player is terrible" Not sure what is constituted as "voicing concern" that seems to be more or less complaining like a 13 year old girl on her period! I guess I can expect fellow alumni not to show up against a weak hartford team because we aren't "good" I really feel bad for the basketball players looking at this board it's a disgrace and disheartening.(hopefully they aren't) I have concerns but damn right I HAVE FAITH! GO EXPLORERS!!!!

You took my quote totally out of context. I never expressed "giving up" on the team or it's players. It was in reference to the frustration about the lack of ball and player movement.

This is the worst I have seen La Salle play in the past three years. With that said we are 3-3 so you can't complain about that. I honestly believe there is no way to go but up. If we pull this out tonight everyone will be back on the wagon. Look at the schedule we need to take the next three and we have another shot at a "big win" against nova. No bad losses yet in my mind, manhattan is a quality team, psu is much improved, and providence will win over 20 games. 20 wins is still in the plans for me.

In response to the "they would be lucky to make the NIT" point, that is not what I said in my post. I said "at this rate" they will not make it to the NIT, which is to say that without significant improvement over the course of the season, I believe this team won't win more than 18 games and won't play in the postseason.
You can talk about how we've lost to some good teams, but if we're honest, Providence is the only one that might be able to get an at-large bid to the tournament. And we've looked bad in the wins. No one looks like they want to shoot the ball and defense has been more than a little disappointing. Of course I believe these guys are talented enough to salvage this season, but after 1/5 of the season, it's pretty hard to see.

I hate this place a lot of times. Long Time Poster 1: "I SAID THEY SUCKED FIRST!" Long Time Poster 2: "NO, I SAID THEY SUCKED FIRST!" Long Time Poster 3: "WHAT, I SAID THEY WOULD SUCK WAY BEFORE YOU DID!" Long Time Poster 4: "NO WAY, I JUMPED SHIP BEFORE ANYONE ELSE!" Me: [closes laptop] All 4 posters were actually Gonzo.

I do not want to accept our role as a small catholic school that wins once in a while. I want to be a regular NCAA team. I have suffered through so many years with this program and I really believed we turned the corner. The team was returning and we had our future team already. Now this happens.

Ok finally found some G-speak following last night's game.
"It's certainly hard to recognize our team right now," head coach Dr. John Giannini said. "The crazy thing is the explanations are extremely elusive."
"We haven't come close to shooting the ball well this year," Giannini said. "Today our shot selection was really strange. We took some bad shots and turned down good shots, which is the sign of a team that has started to stress over their shooting."
"Jerrell being sick was a big loss for us tonight and Khalid being limited for the past seven weeks has been a set back," Giannini said.
"We have some time now to get into practice and make much needed improvements," Giannini said. "We really have to get better and there's no question we have a chance to. These kids have won and they are good players."

This will have to be Coach G's best performance since his first 2 seasons back when all he had was Darnell Harris, Steve Smith and Jermaine Thomas and a toxic program.
There are pieces to work with, a natural PG, a solid front court tandem and a guy that has the ability to score10 points in 2 minutes. Priority #1 has to be toget everyone healthy, number 2 is to study every second of game film to figure out what combinations are working and what combinations are not.
I remain convinced that Garland needs to reprise his role as 6th man. Lewis can sub for Mills and Brown can play for Petersen. Not enough depth in the front court, but you can't fix that right now, so need to focus on their defense and staying out if foul trouble with Ticky-Tack stuff
Hopefully there's something there to pull together
