The all conference individual selections mostly went to Dayton, but Wiggins from La Salle earned goalkeeper of the year award, Haycook and Huseini were first team all conference, Renee Washington was named to the second team. Davis was on the all-rookie team. Haycook and McVicker were an all academic selection.
La Salle has a 2-0 lead over GW with 10 minutes to go in the quarterfinal match. The second half scores came from Renee Washington and Jackie Cammarata.

Been very busy lately so I didn't have time to comment.
Congrats to all those receiving A 10 recognition.
Good win today. Exacted some revenge for loss earlier this season to GW.
Go Explorers

If anyone wants to see the goals, the watch live link does allow rewinding midstream. Since both occurred in the 75' minute, fast forward the stream until you see about 17:00 left on the clock in the second half.
Cammarata's goal was a rocket. Washington's goal was made to look easy because she was positioned about two feet away. Renee now has six (6) postseason goals in her career, three of them as gamewinners!

Haycook draws penalty in the box. Washington with the PK in OT over UMASS. 1-0. On to Finals on Sunday and spot in NCAAs.

So, #1 Dayton meets #2 La Salle tomorrow, as they should. That will be a great match for all to see - I wish it was on an actual TV station instead of merely the web stream!
Dayton was definitely flat the last time La Salle played them exactly nine days ago. Elizabeth James, the rookie Dayton keeper, gave up an early goal to Shannon Dwyer, her first career goal, and that set the tempo for the rest of the game, which La Salle went on to win, 2-0.
Dayton is arguably performing better on grass than they showed on our turf, and has already scored 9 goals in just two days of the tournament (vs. La Salle's 3). The two teams have the two best offenses in the A10, and two of the top four defenses in the league as well.
Since there is no at large bid on the table for either team, it's win or go home on Sunday! Everything rides on the next 90 minutes of action. La Salle has a senior-laden team and I hope they get to win their second A10 ring tomrorow (one for the other hand). La Salle has a two game winning streak in the series, and has scored 4 straight goals in the series vs. Dayton.
Jessica Wiggins was voted all conference goalkeeper, becoming the third in a row from La Salle (Sanger 2011, Pakhtigian 2012).

One of the major topics on the Dayton WSOC board has been the hatred for artifical turf. UD doesn't ever seem to play well on the carpet. So Hykos, you bring up a very important point. Add to the fact, that UD has lost two in a row to La Salle points to a real battle today.
I was disappointed in La Salle ball control vs UMASS. Too many long passes ( used to call them Goalie passes). La Salle dominated UMASS but could not cash in.

Wow, they won in PK's. That was really something. Tourney Three-peat, 2nd straight A10 title.

Oh that game was so crazy! We hit three posts in the game. Dayton hit a post in PK's. We end it on extra penalties (4OT)! Kerri Aiken hit the gamewinner and Katie Getzinger came off the bench to make a walk-off save! Another NCAA tournament starts Friday/Sat/Sunday. (Hopefully a local bus trip.)
Officials comment removed.

I watched the whole match. La Salle drew iron five times by my count plus a great save by UD Goal keeper. FR Deja Davis was outstanding today. Haycook took shot to the nose but played the entire match. Big decision by Paul to bring in a cold goalkeeper for shootouts. He must have a ton of confidence in her.
Congrats to the team and staff. Happy for all but especially the Seniors who make third straight NCAA appearance. I know Coach Royal is so proud of his team.
The ref swallowed the whistle with 15 minutes left in second half. He let everything go. No complaints from me.

When is the NCAA Woman's Selection Show? I actually wore a La Salle woman's soccer jersey under my La Salle hoodie at the game yesterday. I was friends w/ a bunch of the girls on the team back then and one of them hooked me up w/ a size that fit. Still does!

When is the NCAA Woman's Selection Show? I actually wore a La Salle woman's soccer jersey under my La Salle hoodie at the game yesterday. I was friends w/ a bunch of the girls on the team back then and one of them hooked me up w/ a size that fit. Still does! Selection show is 4:30 PM Monday (this afternoon) on www.ncaasports.comThe selection committee did us no favors last year as like a 15 seed to play at top 5 overall Virginia team at Charlottesville on their home turf. I'd like a winnable game this time, and I'd like it closer than 7 hours away. Is that too much to ask? We'll definitely avoid a rematch with Virginia this year, since they're a 1 seed and we shouldn't ever be a 16. This bracketologist thinks we're an 8 or 9 and going to see Georgetown. Hmmm, interesting: www.collegesportsmadness.com/womens-soccer/bracketologyHow about @west Virginia, @notre Dame, or @boston College. Another interesting place to go would be @wake Forest. (Wake was supposed to schedule us this year, and somebody backed out, not sure what happened.) I thought about our beating Dayton twice in one season and how great that sounds to be able to say that. However, the announcers were wrong. La Salle does not in fact have 16 wins. Yesterday actually counts as a tie in the RPI and standings, not as a win. That's unfortunate because we definitely outplayed them and earned the win in withstanding six rounds of PK's. Key match-up of the day: Nickels vs. Libertin. Libertin is Dayton's all-conference striker. She was totally neutralized by the Explorers.

Congrats to the team. Fantastic accomplishment! There's even a "behind the scenes"-type video on goexplorers.com. Coach Royal has done an amazing job. I've said it before, but I have no idea how a big-name program hasn't scooped him up yet. He's either very happy where he is, or I'm mistaken about the frequency of coaching changes in women's soccer.
