I will be live tweeting from the soccer events at McCarthy stadium this evening, and will post any scoring updates here. Of course, it is soccer, so there might not be any scoring updates. If that be the case, I promise to still let you all know that as well.
-La Salle vs St. Joe's WSOC 5:00 PM
-La Salle vs St. Joe's MSOC 7:30 PM *
-Explorer Club Happy Hour Event (RSVP required) 6pm-8pm, Union ballroom.

The hawks have left Dolhansky open for two quick goals in the 40th minute giving the Explorers a 2-0 lead at halftime. The hawks have only 2 offensive options on the field and they have not managed to connect a pass so the lead seems even bigger.

Kelsey Haycook had three goals in four minutes stretch to put the explorers ahead 5-0 over the hapless hawks. There is no problem with the offense, jellybean. La Salle has a 5-0 lead in the 67th minute.

Hykos, good to see the men went for the 2pt conversion to make it 8-0. Extra points are lame

What a great night for La Salle! All we do is turn up, turn up, turn up The women looked dominant throughout. As I said their opponents couldn't even string two lousy passes together, and meanwhile we had players score goals within seconds of each other. Dolhansky had two goals in 30 seconds, and Haycook hit a rare hat trick all in a span of 3 minutes and 28 seconds! Then Deja Davis, a freshman reserve forward, hit a 30 yard field goal to make it 6-0 The freshmen lineup played the final 20 min and preserved the shutout. On the men's side, the results were slower to form, but the 2-0 score was a bit deceiving because they really ran them ragged. I think the 3-0 start might be the best the men have had in quite some time. (The '05 team went 3-0-1 to start and the 2011 team started 3-0-3.) Yet, it was not that long ago that message board goons were making ill statements about the state of the program and when it is successful these negative people hibernate. I wish people would take notice to how well this team has progressed under Coach Farrell. There were about 400 people there tonight and it was a good crowd but a lot of it was stjoes following and spillover attendance from the women's team. There are just a few more he games left and pretty soon it will be basketball season. With the doubleheader sweep both La Salle teams are in great position before heading out on their critical road trips next weekend.

La Salle has a 5-0 lead in the 67th minute. You win today hykos. La Salle buttkicks St. Joe 6-0 last night. Congrats to Coach and staff. We are all happy. Now tell me I'm wrong for pointing out the lack of offense when you do the following? ODU #261 1-0 W American U #198 3-2 W Loy (MD) #289 4-0 W Lehigh #248 1-0 W Fordham #232 1-0 W in 2OT GW #204 0-1 L That's 10 goals in 6 games against teams with RPI of 198 or worse. Take away the Loyola MD game and it's 6 goals in 5 games against sub 198 teams. Why did Washington not start? This roadtrip is against two teams with sub-225 RPI's (St. Bona #267 and Duquesne #228). I expect two W's and no nail biters. Congrats to Farrell and his team for good 2-0 W over SJU (PA).

Now tell me I'm wrong for pointing out the lack of offense? Why did Washington not start? I can only really comment on games I attended. Penn State, Villanova, Princeton Drexel and Lehigh. In those games La Salle went 3-1-1 with only three goals in four games and four goals against Drexel. With the exceptions of at nova where the explorers had already gone ten times in a row without a win, the offense held its own in those games and put a ton of pressure on some good defenses on the road. They snuck out with a 1-0 win at nova despite only taking maybe 5 shots. In the other games the offense looked superior as usual but some trouble with finishing. Had Princeton on the two breakaway runs but credit to Princeton they had blazing speed and alot of help from the ref. They hugged our forwards and grabbed skin, and because we don't flop and fall but try to beat the opponent on speed and skills, we were stymied twice in front of the net. So your debate of lack of goals is not unfounded and it certainly begs the question why did it happen? I say it is because opposing teams who have adequate personnel height and speed are able to hunker down and defend... it works 30% of the time in soccer which is maybe enough to change La Salle from an 85% winner to a 70% winner (still excellent). GW I hear was one of those games where the conditions shut everything down. We have been adjusting our lineups and will work it out. The lineup change was a coaches gambit that paid off. Renee ran circles around defenders who were dogged by our constant pressure. She had a couple of assists and drew SJU's attention off our other players. I don't think she is hurt right now but coach gave a lot of people breaks and they have off Sunday so it will allow everyone's legs to recover.

Seems like my concern was not just whistling in the wind for WSOC.
A regular season win at home over Dayton won't help much for post-season chances. Need to win the A10.

Looking at the boxscores from last weekend, it seems WSOC had some roster issues.

Hoping the wsoc team (3-2-1 record) will come out blazing against Dayton (6-0-0 record) this Friday (Nov 1, 7:00PM, McCarthy Stadium). Dayton will be on full rest having just two games in the past 20 days, so this advantage must be countered somehow. Dayton in fact already clinched the #1 seed so hopefully they get caught for an upset.
Sunday's doubleheader will be VERY interesting to me. The women could find themselves in a win-and-in situation against GMU, and the men also have to face Dayton for senior day.
